I’ve been here a few times as it is the best food available in the local area and has a nice atmosphere. The place is always packed with people venturing down from Melbourne and after eating there it is obvious to see why.
The Tapas menu has plenty of great selections with Pork Belly being my favourite. The Paella days are a lot of fun as well and always have some really fantastic options, best paella I’ve ever eaten.
The manager always comes and asks how the meal was and gives samples of a couple of their great wine/liquor/port selection at the end which is a nice touch.
The wine is delicious and very affordable, the benefit of having an eatery on a winery! Check out the Sparkling Pinot Gris for something special.

Brandy Creek Wines & View Cafe have been on many travel Melbourne shows for it’s pleasant scenery and of course, good food.

It has been shown on Postcards, a Melbourne TV travel and food show, a while back and I couldn’t catch it’s name. So I searched endlessly and gave up eventually. However, maybe a year or two later it was shown on Coxy’s Big Break, but I missed the name again. For some reason, I just ended up searching ‘Victoria Paella’ and Brandy Creek Wines shows up at the top.

Curious enough, I looked to see what they had, and the Paella Feast piqued my interest. We also had my parent’s anniversary coming up, so it was good timing.

Located in Drouin East, near Warragul, their Paella Feasts are quite an attraction. With 6 large bowls of 5 different styles of Paella, and one cazuella. You definitely get your monies worth here.

Pinot Gris ready to be picked.

In 24months those grapes will have become a bottle of wine.

Due to the weather over the last year being less than desirable, our harvest this year was a lot smaller than we would have hoped weighing in at around 5 tonne. Usually we would use the Pinot Gris grapes to make three wines; Pinot Gris, Sparkling Pinot Gris and Late Harvest Pinot Gris. This year though, due to the smaller harvest, all these grapes will be made in to Sparkling Pinot Gris.

These are some of the rows that were picked.

After the grapes have been picked, they begin their journey to the winery in Moorabbin. Here they are placed in to a rotary press where the juice from the grapes is squeezed out.

Once the juice from the grapes has been drained, it is placed in to a fermentation vat. Yeast is then added to the juice in the vat. Over the next 10 days the yeast converts all the sugar in the grape juice in to alcohol. After a settling period, sugar and more yeast is added to the juice.

The wine is then bottled, where it is allowed a second fermentation period. The bottle is sealed so no carbon dioxide can escape, giving the wine it’s bubbles. This process takes around 12 months complete, and then the final product is a lovely bottle of Brandy Creek Wines & View Café Sparkling Pinot Gris.
